The South Carolina Sleep Society (SCSS) has been organized for scientific and educational purposes, and to act as a voice for sleep professionals in the State of South Carolina. The SCSS promotes and provides increased public awareness of the field. The SCSS encourages and assists in the advancement of scientific and technical standards of polysomnographic technology, and promotes the highest standards of training and qualifications for sleep medicine physicians and polysomnographic technologists. The SCSS endeavors to protect and preserve the public trust in sleep medicine physicians and polysomnographic technologists by promoting the highest level of clinical standards for patient care and safety in order to produce the highest quality of polysomnographic data and sleep disorders treatment.

The SCSS is established as a 501(c)(6) organization which by definition “must focus on the advancement of the conditions of a particular trade and/or the interests of the community.”  Furthermore, a 501(c)(6) organization may further its exempt purposes through lobbying as its primary activity without jeopardizing its exempt status. The purpose of the SCSS is to augment and strengthen the field of Sleep Medicine by diligently working toward obtaining state licensure and a practice act that will protect and promote our profession and ensure the safety of the patients we serve.  Therefore it is essential that we grow in membership so that we have a strong voice when the time comes to act.”

We would like to extend an invitation to all of our sleep care professionals in the state of South Carolina to join the newly formed South Carolina Sleep Society (SCSS)!

By joining the SCSS, you will make a lasting contribution to the continued growth and development of the sleep medicine field. Uniting together with colleagues across the state will be the most effective way to promote sleep medicine and sleep research.
